Naturalism in Painting - The Norwich School (c.1803-33) This school was led by John Crome (1768-1821) and afterwards by the watercolourist John Sell Cotman (1782-1842). It was inspired by the East Anglian landscape, the Norfolk Broads and salt marshes, and by 17th century Dutch landscape painters like Meindert Hobbema (1638-1709) and Jacob van Ruisdael (1628-82).
